How to Get Your Upline to Give You The Time Of Day!

It's interesting...

Many people in the network marketing industry use phrases such as "I'm working with an individual that was paid $50,000 last month in the industry." Another one is, "I have a friend that made over $1,000,000 last year with this company." These comments of course generally refer to the distributor's upline in his or her respective company. However, in all likelyhood, there is a good chance that that upline probably doesn't even know this particular distributor even exists!

How would you like to be able to say these statements and they actually be true! How would you like your upline that makes $50,000 a month to personally work with you or to be able to call a friend your upline that made over $1,000,000 last year? Well the good news is that it can be done and you don't even have to be one of the top leadership bonus earners in your company to do it (although that certainly wouldn't hurt your chances.)

My upline actually made $50,000 in one month and my upline above him actually earns over a million dollars in our respective companies. I have their personal phone numbers, they take my phone calls and respond to my emails. The first gentleman is a very good friend of mine. I have a standing invitation to visit him in southern California pretty much anytime I want, an invitation that I have exercised on several occassions. The 2nd gentleman in my upline invited me over to his house for the day, provided me with my own room to spend the night and I got to watch everything he does to be able to generate the type of income he has earned.

How was I able to do this despite the fact that I am not one of the top leadership bonus earners in my company? How can you do the same in your company? Here are some suggestions that will assist you.

1. Attend every event and get on every conference call. You must make it your business to attend every single event that is available for you to build your business. If your company has a weekly meeting in your local marketplace, attend it. If your company has a monthly event, attend it. If your company has a quarterly regional event attend it. If your company has a national or international convention attend it. It is very easy to separate yourself from the masses simply by attending every event and getting on every conference call. Because most people quit as long as you stick around and attend everything, you have a good chance at getting noticed by the top income earners in your organization and being able to develop a relationship.

2. Offer to help out. If you separate yourself by attending every event, you really move away from the pact simply by offering to help out. Many times, your leaders are running around doing much of the work required to make the event a success with very few people pitching in to help out. If you offer to help out, you really separate yourself from the masses because so very few people offer to do the things behind the scenes. If I see a need, I have no problems with offering to help out. I do things for my organization and for my upline that many people don't even know actually take place.

3. Do some activity. It's great if you are going to come out to every event and offer to help out. However, you really don't need your upline's attention if you aren't going to work the business. Therefore, you need to go out and do some activity. This doesn't mean that you have to be the number one recruiter or the number one membership seller. However, you should at least be talking to a certain number of prospects on a regular and consistent basis about your opportunity and about your products & services. By doing activity, once you finally get the attention of your upline, you can ask intelligent questions that will help you to maximize their ability to help you.

4. Attend the "meeting after the meeting" In most network marketing companies, there is usually a meeting after the meeting. This is when all the players gather together at a local restaurant or lodge to hang out after the major meeting has taken place. You should make it your business to attend this meeting. This is very likely your best chance to actually be able to meet with your successful upline and be able to build a relationship with him or her. The two gentleman that I refer to above, I was able to start that relationship with them by attending the "meeting after the meeting"

5. Respect your upline's time & schedule. There is no faster way to get your successful upline to stop taking your calls then to call them up and waste time chit-chatting. Respect their time. This is an individual that is supporting thousands or even tens of thousands of distributors. Don't waste their time by calling them up to chit chat. Respect their time, be very brief and to the point. They will respect you for it and be willing to take your calls as a result.

6. Remember, you upline is a person as well. Many people treat their uplines as if they are some recruiting machine or some celebrity. They are a regular person, so treat them as such. Don't ask them questions all of the time about the business. Ask them about their families, about their hobbies and interest, etc.

If you do these things, you will be able to establish a relationship with your upline that will be a tremendous benefit both to your business and your life!
