Are you struggling to build a successful business?
People struggle for months doing all the necessary activities to build a network marketing business. They then get a small paycheck and come to the conclusion that “this business doesn’t work.” They quit that business, start another opportunity and the cycle continues. For some people this goes on for years!
It’s not that the business itself doesn’t work. The problem is what you are doing isn’t working. The secret to success in network marketing or any business for the matter is to find out what works and do that and find out what doesn’t work and don’t do that.
GoalTrends.com helps you to do exactly that. By using our system to track your activity, you will be able to know exactly what you are doing that’s making you money and what you are doing that’s costing you money.
Here are three major benefits that GoalTrends provides for network marketing professionals looking to build a successful business:
+ It shows you exactly what you are doing in your business.
+ It shows you what activities in your business will make you money.
+ It helps you to receive more effective coaching in your business. Your leaders can only help you effectively if they know exactly what you are doing in your business and GoalTrends allows you to provide them with accurate information so they can advise you accordingly.
Successful network marketers focus their time and efforts on the right activities. These activities are the ones that drive their business. Anything else is just a waste of time. By using the GoalTrends system, you’ll know exactly what those activities are, how often you do them and even be able to chart your performance so you can increase your effectiveness in network marketing.
So what is GoalTrends.com?
GoalTrends.com has a built in software that allows you to break down your entire network marketing business into individual activities. These activities are the key to building a successful network marketing business. By tracking these activities on a regular and consistent basis, you will be able to discover what your weaknesses are, improve them, increase your income and make your dreams a reality through network marketing.
You see, what holds most network marketing distributor’s back is the fact that they don’t track their activity. Therefore, when they ask for help, leaders have no option but to resort to generic advice like “talk to more people.”
For instance, let’s say you invited 15 people to your local opportunity meeting this week and no one showed up. The problem isn’t that no one showed up. The problem is that no one showed up out of 15 invites. This demonstrates a weakness in your inviting process.
So what’s the secret to the GoalTrends system for network marketers?
The secret is the ability to use the tracking software on our web site combined with our point system that we have developed. Each activity necessary for success is assigned a point value based on how important that activity is to your business.
For example, the most effective activity that you can participate in is attending a training event with a new distributor in your organization. This is because it allows you to duplicate your efforts. We give you 5 points (the highest available) in the system for this action.
On the other hand, one of the least effective actions that you can take to build your business is to send an email to someone you know letting them know that you are in business. We give you only .02 points for that, but a lot of emails can add up and help you to be successful. By spending your time and effort on the activities we suggest through GoalTrends, you will make sure you are being productive in your network marketing business.
So how do you implement the GoalTrends.com system? Here are the action steps:
The first step is to open an account by visiting http://www.goaltrends.com. Next, create all activities (tasks) in the “My Account” section of the website. You will need to do this manually for each and every one of all 12 activities listed below, one-by-one. In addition, you should also tick your weekly target (your goals for the week) for each activity.
The first and most important activity type is the activity of personal development. You can only earn the type of income that you have developed yourself to be able to earn. If you want to increase your income, you must first increase your attitude.
There are two activities that you should include and track in the area of personal development. They are…
#1. Goal Setting: Goal setting isn’t just writing down your goals and never looking at them again. Goal setting is looking at your goals daily, reviewing them and making changes as necessary. A super serious networker does this twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. You get 1 point each time you do this, so if you do it twice a day, you should accumulate 2 points a day.
#2. Training: There are a number of opportunities for training in a network marketing business. Your company or up-line organization likely holds trainings in your local market. The company often has regional or national seminars. There are also trainings that you can attend outside of your company. For every hour of training you participate in assign yourself 1 point.
The second type of activity required for success is prospecting. These are activities that allow you to fill your funnel with prospects for you to share your products and business opportunity with. We have identified four effective prospecting activities for a network marketing business.
#3. Direct Mail: Direct mail is an effective marketing strategy when you are sharing it with people you already know and have a relationship with (your warm market). For every promotional letter, business card, post card or email you send to people you know, give yourself .02 points. So for every 50 sent, you will accumulate 1 point.
#4. Advertisement: An advertisement is any promotion that you run to inform people that you don’t know about your products or business opportunity (your cold market). You can advertise on the internet, in a magazine or newspaper, on radio or on television. Each day you run an advertisement give yourself 2 points.
#5. Meeting New People: Network marketing is a relationship business and meeting new people to build relationships with is one of the best activities you can do. Give yourself 1 point for each new person you meet, regardless of whether you talk about your products, your business opportunity or just introduce yourself to that person in general.
#6. Phone Dials: Most successful leaders in your company know how important it is to make phone calls on a regular and consistent basis. For every dial you make to a prospect regardless of whether they pick up the phone to answer or not, give yourself 1 point. Dials can include dials made to prospects for the first time, follow-ups, dials to book an appointment or even dials to current customers to upgrade them or recruit them to the business.
The third type of activity that is required for success is communication. After prospecting, some of your prospects will be interested. There are six activities that are required for effective communication in network marketing. They are…
#7. Conversations: A conversation is when you actually speak to a prospect on the phone. When you dialed you got 1 point (from Activity #6). When the prospect answers the phone you will get another 1 point. Also, if a prospect returns your call and you answer, this to counts as a conversation.
#8. Setting Appointments: Whenever you book an appointment with a prospect to attend an event and they accept your appointment, this counts as a set appointment. Each time you do this, give yourself 2 points. An appointment can be an invitation to an in-home-meeting, a one-on-one meeting, a hotel business overview as well as a luncheon. Don’t forget to confirm your appointments 24 hours before the actual appointment time.
#9. Presentations: When you have a prospect that shows up to an appointment and you, or someone from your company, presents to that prospect, give yourself 3 points when this happens.
#10. Customer Sales: A customer sale is when someone purchases your products and you earn a commission on that sale. When this happens, give yourself 4 points. This includes new first time customers as well as existing customers that you upgrade to an additional product. Keep in mind when you are upgrading, if you make a dial and the customer picks up you get 1 point for the dial and 1 point for the conversation as well. That’s a total of 6 points from one person!
#11. Sponsored Distributors: Whenever you sponsor a new distributor into your organization give yourself 4 points. Make sure that the distributor agreement is signed and that the company has received payment for the first order before giving yourself the points.
#12. Training New Distributors: Whenever you attend a training with one of your new distributors, whether you are doing the training personally or someone in your company is, give yourself 5 points. This is the highest activity we assign points to because this is the activity that rewards you the most in your network marketing business. After all, once you have a well trained distributor, you can duplicate yourself and earn income off the efforts of others.
Now that you have the 12 activities, you should log into your GoalTrends.com account every night and record your activity in the system by checking the box listed next to each activity. The system will automatically multiply the activity by its assigned point value. When done, look at your “My Profile” page to see how you are performing on the trend of past weeks results. You can also add your own GoalTrends gadget on your blog or web site by inserting the code provided by the system. This lets you look at your performance weekly and compare it to your goals.
Finally, the system also includes a Logbook feature. The Logbook allows you to record daily notes as well as reminders as you track your goals. This way you can record your thoughts along the way and see how you progress in your business.
Enjoy using the GoalTrends.com system.
To Your Success,

MLM Success Training - The Secret To Earning A Big Income!
MLM Success Training
The Secret To Earning A Big Income!
If you are interested in making a large, long term, sustainable income, you really need to understand this principle of Multi-Level Marketing. This is the key to developing success in this industry.
Ask any top income earner or leader in any company to examine the production that is coming from their organization. You will find that the large majority of their income does NOT come from a few superstars who move a lot of product.
Instead, the large majority of their income comes from hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of people who may only sign up one or two new customers that month.
Too many people focus their efforts on how to find the superstar that's going to revolutionize and explode their business. The problem is, this is a misconception of how success in MLM happens. Even if you personally recruit a superstar that builds a huge business, that's still not going to the large majority of your income.
The large majority of your income is actually going to come from the masses.
Therefore, what you want to do is make sure that you have a system in place that you can teach the masses in your business so that it can duplicate with or without your involvement.
This is why you want to make sure you don't let complicated things into your business. Anything that is complicated won't be able to duplicate without your involvement. That's why you also want to make sure you're not constantly changing your system and the way you do the business.
I know of so many leaders in MLM where every month they have a new way or a new system or a new tool for how they are going to build the business. This is a huge mistake and if you follow this philosophy, you are putting handcuffs on your success.
So many people think they need to have the best system, the best tool, the best marketing strategy.
You really don't have to.
Always remember this one rule...
A leader who has a good consistent system will ALWAYS outproduce a leader who is constantly changing great systems every 90 days.
One of the biggest contributors to success is not necessarily how good or great or effective something is. More important than that is how consistent or presistent you are in executing that strategy.
There are so many leaders in this industry who may not even be as sharp as other people in the industry. However, because they are more consistent with their strategy, they beat out the sharper leaders every day in the industry.
So remember, the secret to earning the big incomes in the MLM industry is to recognize that you need to have a system in place that duplicates, that's simple and that you aren't constantly changing all of the time. This one tip could literally be the difference between you growing your business and you EXPLODING your business!

Network Marketing Convention - What Should You Bring?
So you've decided to go to your company's network marketing convention? You've made a wise decision. Attending your company's convention can be one of the best decisions that you can make for your business.
However, if you aren't careful, you can lose out on a lot of the benefits of that event by not bringing the right things that are necessary for you to get the most out of the convention.
There are a number of items that you absolutely do NOT want to leave home without if you want to get the maximum benefit out of attending your network marketing convention. Here they are...
1. A notepad with several pens - At the convention you are going to be receiving plenty of training and information that is going to help you build your business. You want to make sure that you take plenty of notes. This way, you can highlight the few key points that you can take back home with you and apply to your business.
While you want to write as much as possible, don't feel you have to apply everything you learn. Doing so will likely result in nothing being applied to your business. Instead focus on the top 3 things that you can do coming out of the convention to supercharge your business.
2. A camera or camcorder - The convention is a great time for you to get plenty of pictures and video documenting your experience. You want to take pictures of yourself, your team as well as pictures of yourself with some of the top leaders in your company.
If you have a camcorder, you can do even more! You can interview your team members, some of the top leaders in the company. You can capture video of different parts of the event. In fact, you can even record some of your thoughts and post it to YouTube and other video sharing web sites. With a link to your web site, this can result in additional prospects for your business.
3. Your prospects list and your organization genelogy - A network marketing convention is a great time to call prospects and distributors in your organization who weren't able to attend the event. Make sure you print out these lists before you attend because there's no guarantee you are going to be able to get to a computer or printer once you leave.
These are just a few of the items you want to make sure you bring with you so that you can maximize your experience at your network marketing convention.

MLM Convention Cost Savings Strategies
This week is my mlm convention so I figured that I will dedicate my posts this week to strategies and tips to help you get the most out of attending your mlm conventions.
I've been in the industry a few short years now and I've picked up a number of strategies, tips and tactics to make sure I get the biggest bang out of my distributor convention attendance.
Today, I'm going to talk about travel savings. One of the biggest excuses that I hear from distributors as to why they cannot attend their convention is because of a lack of money.
It's insane if you ask me. You joined the company to make money. The company has a convention where the people who have MADE the most money are going to be training you on how to make money. Yet you don't go because you don't have any money?
Doesn't that defeat the point? Didn't you join the business to learn how to make money? So why would you let your reason for doing the business be your excuse not to attend what will likely be the solution to your problem?
Anyway, I'm digressing now.
I recognize that money is tight for a lot of people especially in this down economy. However, there are a number of things you can do to save money as you go to your convention.
I'm personally am going to be attending the prepaid legal convention. However, it really doesn't matter what company you are with. Pretty much all mlm conventions require that you travel somewhere so you can use these strategies.
For example, I know that the USANA convention is coming up this summer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Therefore if you are in USANA, you can use these strategies to help you save money traveling to convention.
Also in Utah, the Xango convention is going to be taking place later this year as well. If you are in Xango, you want to make sure that you are in attendance and you want to save money doing so as well.
Usually the biggest convention expense for most distributors is travel. Plane tickets are expensive these days and since most airlines are losing money, they are trying to figure out every trick in the book to get more money out of us.
This includes their latest gimmick where they are charging you for each bag that you check into the flight.
If you don't have to fly...don't! You will generally save more money taking some other means of transportation than you will by flying. Driving is actually the least expense way to get to a convention if you car pool.
For instance, I know a distributor that attends the weekly training that I host in my local marketplace. She has four other people with her and she is going to be driving from New York to Oklahoma City.
They can each take turns driving so that there isn't too much load on any one person. The gas and tolls are going to be the same regardless of whether its one person in the car or 5 people. So by spliting gas and toll costs, they are going to save a lot of money.
I think she told me it's going to come out to like $50 a person both ways! 5 people in that car combined are going to pay less money than some people I know who paid $400 round trip to fly from New York to Oklahoma City.
Along the same lines, you can rent a van or if you have a big team in your local market, you can even rent a bus. For instance, I know a group in my local market that rented a bus that's going from New York to Oklahoma City. Each person is paying only $250 round trip.
I have two other friends in my business out in California that are both 6 figure earners in the company. Could they afford to fly on a plane? Absolutely! However, they are both renting a bus from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City and they have their team getting on the bus with them.
Besides making the convention more affordable, the van or bus option allows you and your team to build comrodery and relationships, two very important factors to building a long term successful business.
Greyhound buses are also an affordable option if you book early. If you book early enough, you can often travel very far for only $150 round trip on Greyhound. Ideally you will want to book your ticket 14 days in advance. Anything later than that, the price goes up.
Amtrak is expensive. I don't recommend it in most cases. You can often fly somewhere for cheaper than it would cost to take Amtrak to the same destination.
If you must fly, there are some tricks you can use as well to reduce the cost. Try to book an all in one package, which includes flight, hotel and car rental. Often you can save money by booking these things combined than separately.
One of my favorite web sites is Priceline. They have great deals and charge no booking fees, with the exception of their "Name Your Own Price" program.
By the way, the name your own price program is great if you have flexibility over what time you depart and what time you leave. You simply type how much you want to pay for your flight, where you want to leave out of and if they are able to book a flight for you for that price, you get it.
I recommend using that program if you are booking several months in advance. This way if they can't find a flight for you, there's always the option of booking a regular flight.
You should also consider flying in a few days before the convention and flying out a few days after the convention to see if the cost savings you can get make it worthwhile. Tuesday and Wednesday are usually the cheapest days to fly.
You should also check out different departure airports and even different departure cities. The same goes for different arrival cities.
For instance, in New York, I have a lot of options. There are two airports in New York City itself, JFK and Lagaudia. There's also McArthur airport in Long Island, Newark airport in New Jersey. Philadelphia is only 2 hours away and Boston and Washington DC are only 4 hours away.
You can also save a ton of money by sharing hotel rooms. I always share hotel rooms when I go to convention. I got 3 other guys in my room with me this year and I've had conventions where I've had as many as 6 people in my room.
If the hotel is $100 a night, if you got 4 people in a room combined, that brings the price down to $25 a night per person. You can often pay less for the full time of the convention than you would have if you booked one night of the room by yourself.
If you have a friend or family member that lives where you are having the convention, stay with them. This way you don't have to pay anything for hotel costs!
So these are some tips that will help you save money when traveling to convention. I leave for my convention tomorrow. However, before I go, I'll make sure I post tomorrow some things that you want to make sure you bring with you so you get the most out of convention.

So far, I watched both the first and the second videos that he has thus far and they are great. I know for me, checking out this web site is going to be a part of my daily routine.
In addition, Eric allows and encourages you to post your comments about the show right on the blog. Like many blogs, you can put a link to whatever web site you want to promote for your name. This way, if people like your comment and want to learn more about you, they can check out your web site.
I highly recommend that you check out Eric's web site and others like it and post comments on a daily basis. You will be surprise how many prospects you will be able to generate from this process by committing to it daily.
Some of my best prospects have come from utilizing this exact strategy, so I recommend that you utilize it as well.
So if you haven't check out Eric Worre's new web site, go ahead and check out Network Marketing Pro today! He's getting a ton of buzz already and I believe this has the potential to be a very successful project as well as a huge asset for the entire network marketing industry.

PFS Primerica Financial Services Compensation Plan
Today we are going to talk a look at the compensation plan of Primerica Financial Services. Primerica is a network marketing company that offers a range of financial related services such as life insurance, mutual funds, mortgages, and more!
If you would like more information how how network marketing compensation plans work in general, take a look at this post entitled how to evaluate a network marketing compensation plan.
To get started in Primerica requires an initial investment of $99. There may also be other fees depending on what state you plan on doing business with. These fees cover your license to sell life insurance, offer mortgages and to be able to offer financial secruities.
Primerica will reimburse you for these fees as long as you actually end up passing the exams involved. If you don't pass the exams, you are out of that money. Also, depending on what office you sign up with, they may or may not take care of these fees for you.
Primerica's compensation plan is based on a wide variety of different factors. Each product has a different method of compensation and it varies based on how much of a particular product the client needs and decides to purchase.
For example, the most popular product for Primerica is its term life insurance program. The company pays advanced commissions based on the client keeping the insurance for at least a year.
As a brand new licensed representative, you are entitled to a 25% commission based on the policy the client purchases and what they pay on an annual basis. The amount the client is charged is based on a wide variety of different factors.
Some of these factors include whether you are a smoker or non-smoker, your job (if you have a job that is considered hazardous), your age, any illnesses that may be common in your family, as well as your weight.
So if the policy you sell is $500 annual, your commission for that policy would be $125.
As you get promoted throught the compensation plan, your commission increases. For instance, at the next position, which is Senior Representative, your commission jumps to 35%. You also earn a 10% overide on the business submitted by any new license representatives that join your team that are not under or have achieved themselves the Senior representative position.
Here are the other levels in the compensation plan:
District Leader - 50% life insurance commission.
Division Leader - 60% life insurance commission.
Regional Leader - 70% life insurance commission.
Keep in mind, you get the difference between your level and the highest level achieved by anyone in the line of sponsorship that made the sale between you and the representative that made the sale.
So for instance, let's say you are a Regional Leader and you have a rep on your team sign someone up for a $500 annual life insurance policy. This person has 2 people between you and they are both Senior Representatives.
The rep that made the sale would earn $175. The 2 Senior reps between you would earn nothing. You would earn the difference between your level which is 70% and that reps level, which is 35%. The difference is 35% so you would also earn $175 from that sale.
One downside to Primerica's compensation plan is that the highest level you can achieve in the business part time is Regional Leader. The next level above that, Regional Vice President, you HAVE to be full time in the business in order to achieve that level.
In most network marketing companies, your ability to achieve levels in the compensation plan have nothing to do with whether you are part time or full time. They are simply dependent on you acheiving certain sales milestones.
RVPs earn 95% commission on life insurance they personally process. You also HAVE to get an office and all of the expenses associated with it when you reach the level of Regional Vice President.
I have met a number of former RVPs from Primerica who enjoyed their business up until qualifying for Regional Vice President. Once they had to start dealing with the expenses and headaches associated with running an office, they became burned out and eventually quit the business even though they were making money.
You also have to give up your strongest organization to your RVP when you advance to the RVP position. This is definitely something that I don't agree with at all.
Another downside to Primerica's compensation plan is that the other products that you are able to sell play no role in your ability to get promoted. You can still earn commissions and overrides from them, but they don't contribute to your promotion requirements at all.
Here's an example of the compensation plan for loan refinances. Keep in mind this may vary from state to state so don't take these numbers as set in stone...
Representative - 0.312%
Senior Representative - 0.364%
District Leader - 0.442%
So for instance, if you are a Senior Representative and you get a client to sign up for a $200,000 mortgage with you, your commission on that mortgage works out to $728.
Let's take a look and see if Primerica matches up with the 3 points to review for compensation plans.
1. How easy is it to make $500 to $1000 a month?
To make $500, you just need to help two families or four individuals a month get a life insurance policy at the entry level, which is the representative position. You can get this down to one family or 2 individuals a month as you move up the compensation plan.
How many people would you need to talk to a month to reach this goal? Assuming you are at the entry level, here are the numbers
50% - 4 families a month (1 per week)
25% - 8 families a month (2 per week)
10% - 20 families a month (5 per week)
5% - 40 families a month (10 per week)
1% - 100 families a month (25 per week)
All of these numbers are realistic for a part timer (100 families a month is aggressive but possible) so it is very realistic to make $500 to $1000 a month in Primerica. Keep in mind, this is only with the life insurance incomes. You can make even more offering the other products and services.
The only downside is that many people don't even make it that far because they fail the license requirements and never get certified to begin offering insurance.
So I would say it is easy to make $500 to $1000 a month in Primerica with the caveat of needing to be able to pass the exams.
2. How much does the product cost and how much does it cost to get started as a distributor?
The average term life insurance policy is about $40 a month. The distributor fees will cost you in the hundreds of dollars when everything is said and done. Considering the type of money you get paid, I believe the product cost and distributor costs are very reasonable.
3. Is there competition for your products and services?
There is tremendous amounts of competition for Primerica's products and services. The financial services industry is a trillion dollar industry with literally hundreds if not thousands of companies that service this marketplace.
The good thing is financial services aren't something that clients are going to necessarily switch as easily as they might for a cosmetic or a nutritional product. So once you get the client, your retention should be higher than it would be in other types of network marketing companies.
As a disclaimer I must let you know that although Primerica is doing very well financially, they are owned by Citibank, which as you know is doing so poorly, they are requesting government bailouts at the time of this writing.
This association is hurting Primerica in many ways. Besides the bad press that Citibank is receiving, the parent company's troubles is impacting Primerica in other ways. For example, Primerica recently had to cancel BOTH its International Convention AS WELL as its Incentive Trip.
I didn't hear why, but if I had to venture a guess, I'm sure it has to do with the fact that it wouldn't look good if Citibank is getting bailout money while Primerica reps are partying at a resort in Atlantis. Citibank is looking for buyers for its Primerica business and hopefully for Primerica, they will find a buyer quickly.
In short, Primerica is an excellent business opportunity, one of the best that I have seen in this industry. The fact that they have over 100 people earning over a million dollars a year and over 1000 people earning six figures is a testament to the power of the opportunity.
The downside is that it is not an opportunity for everyone. A lot of people don't even make it to the starting gate because of the insurance requirements. The sales cycle is also one of the lengthest in the network marketing industry because of the regulations required.
If you are interested in Primerica, make sure you do your homework and sign up with an organization that has a strong training system. Don't just speak to the person that's signing you up. Ask to speak to the Regional Vice President as well.
If you like the compensation but don't like the licensing requirements, there are other service based companies that offer a similar plan without as tough requirements.
For instance in the opportunity that I'm a part of, I make $207 on a $36 a month product, plus residuals. There are no licenses required in the large majority of states in the United States and the few that do, very few of them require a test. Most of them only require paying a fee.
Also, unlike Primerica, you can achieve any position you want without having to open an office and without having to go full time. We have a number of individuals earning six figures and even multiple six figures who work their businesses part time out of the comfort of their homes.
If you are interested click on the following link and check out the company that I believe offers the best network marketing compensation plan. In fact, my company's products are so good, Primerica offers one of them as well (but their reps get paid much less than we get paid offering the same product).
Please be advised that if you have already signed up with Primerica and you are currently an active representative with the company, I ask that you don't click on the above link. The reason why is because the company I am with and Primerica have a non-compete clause. This means I cannot recruit you and you cannot recruit me.
However, if you are joining Primerica or are already in Primerica and would like to learn of some strategies that will help you build your business feel free to check out my free report.

Does Google Adwords Work For Network Marketing?
There are a number of distributors in the network marketing industry who wonder whether Google Adwords works for network marketing.
I can tell you from personal experience that it does. I have signed up a number of customers as well as a number of distributors using Google Adwords to advertise my network marketing business.
However, the biggest challenge with using Google Adwords is that it is a very expensive learning curve. What that basically means is that if you don't know what you are doing, it will cost you a lot of money to learn.
That's one of the biggest reasons why many distributors don't use Google Adwords to market their business. They tried it before, lost a lot of money and assume that it doesn't work.
This couldn't be further from the truth.
There are a number of tools, books and resources that are available that teach you how to market online using Google Adwords. They are great resources and that's exactly how I learned myself.
That being said, I have never seen a tool or resource that teaches you how to do it specifically for people who are involved in a network marketing business...
Until now that is.
Mike Dillard recently conducted an interview with Aaron and Sophia Rashkin and Jim Yaghi about their experiences with using Google Adwords to market their network marketing products and opportunity.
The information in this interview is EASILY worth $97! However, for a limited amount of time, you have an opportunity to be able to check out this information at no cost to you whatsoever!
All you have to do is visit this web site to request a copy of the video and a link will be emailed to you!

The Truth About Cold Calling For Direct Sales Profesionals
In the previous part to this series on cold calling, I talked about the 2nd level of cold calling. Today I am going to reveal the 3rd and 4th levels of cold calling and let you know if I believe that are valid strategies for building an effective direct sales organization.
Level 3 - Cold Calling Leads
The third level of cold calling is the cold calling of leads. These are people who have filled out a form or responded to some type of ad or survey indicating that they have an interest in what you have to offer.
This is still cold calling because they have no idea who you are and you have no idea who they are. However, in this case, they have requested some information.
While this is not necessarily one of my favorite methods of prospecting, this is something that I do use quite frequently in my business. The reason why is because I can purchase these types of leads faster and less expensively than I can using techniques to do level 4 cold calling, which I will explain later.
Depending on the quality of leads that you purchase, you will still face a lot of rejection. This is in particular if they are not "real time" leads, which means you get their information as soon as they make a request.
Another issue is that some lead vendors offer incentives for people to fill out the information. You will also face a lot of rejection if the lead vendor you use does this. The reason why is because you will get a lot of people that will say "hey, I just wanted the free TV" or whatever incentive that was being offered at the time.
Anything that you can do to qualify these leads more before you call them will help you in the prospecting process. For instance, all my leads go into a contact management system where they get sent an email to my web site.
Using this system, I will call the people who actually look at the presentation on my web site first. 2nd, I will call the people who go to my web site. 3rd, I will call the people who opened my email, but didn't go to my site. Finally, I will call the people that didn't do anything.
Level 4 - Personally Generated Leads
The fourth and final level of cold calling is personally generated leads. These are leads who filled out some information after looking at some information that you offered in advance first.
In my opinion, this is the best method of cold calling and ideally, these are the types of leads that I would like to spend the majority of my time working, if at all possible.
There are a number of ways you can generate these leads. In fact, there's an excellent course on the subject. It's called Building On A Budget and it teaches you how to generate your own leads using the internet.
Frank's full version of his ebook "Cold Calling Is A Waste Of Time" also goes into some in depth information on how to generate these types of leads as well. You can view a preview of the ebook for free right on my web site.
So as you can see, all cold calling is not created equal. There are different levels of cold calling. Personally, doing something is better than doing nothing, so if the best thing you can think of is engage in level 1 cold calling, go ahead and do so.
However, the sooner you are able to upgrade to the higher levels of cold calling, the easier and the more effective you are going to find the process of building a direct sales organization to be.

MLM - Should You Be Wasting Your Time Cold Calling?
In the first part of this blog series, I explained what cold calling is. I also explained that in my opinion, there are 4 different types of cold calling and that depending on which type you do would determine whether I feel it is a waste of time or not.
I revealed the first type of cold calling, which I referred to as Random Cold Calling. Today, I am going to reveal the other types of cold calling.
Level #2 - Targeted Cold Calling
The 2nd level of cold calling is targeted cold calling. This is when you still call or contact people randomly. However, you have access to some information about them that may indicate that this is a person that might perhaps be interested in what you have to offer.
For example, one of the best examples I can think of is in the real estate investing niche. If you ever taking a real estate investing seminar or purchased a home study course, you know that many of these investors teach you how to make money in foreclosures.
One strategy that they often recommend is to go down to the local court house in your county and pull up all of the properties in which lending institutions have filed foreclosures against them. They then teach to get their contact information and to either send them a letter, call them up or knock on their door.
If you have ever heard of MLM genealogy leads, this is another example of targeted cold calling. Typically a company goes out of business and one of the distributors in the company offers to sell the contact information of the distributors in his or her downline.
I'm personally not a big fan of this strategy either. However, like random cold calling it can work for the right person and I have had distributors who have used this strategy successfully before.
The key to this strategy working is that you just have to be at the right place at the right time. If you are, you are almost guaranteed to make the sale or get the recruit.
Case in point, I was interested in selling my timeshare. However, I had no idea how to go about doing so. Some lady cold called me and left me a voice message saying that she can help me sell my time share.
I gave my number to my wife. My wife called her and how this lady is going to be helping us sell our timeshare. She probably purchased some list of timeshare owners, was in the right place at the right time and made the sale with very little effort because we just happened to be interested in what she had to offer.
So targeted cold calling can work under the right circumstances. The key is two fold. You have to first off be in the right place at the right time. Secondly, how you generate the leads is key because some targeted list are better than others.
For example, lets say you got your hands on a list of just random network marketers. You then had another list of random network marketers who have spent money on personal and self development materials.
The list of network marketers who invested money in personal and self development materials is to me a better list than just a list of random network marketers.
By the way, if you didn't get a chance to download a free preview copy of the Frank Rumbauskas ebook "Cold Calling Is A Waste of Time" you can do so by clicking on the title of the ebook.
Tomorrow I'm going to reveal the third and final levels of cold calling so you want to make sure you come back to this blog to see what they are!

Is Cold Calling A Waste Of Time For Network Marketing Distributors?
In any type of profession where income is determined by commission sales, there are always a debate as to the virtues of cold calling. Some sales leaders teach that cold calling is a fundamental prospecting strategy for building a long term and successful sales business.
You hear terms such as...
"It's a numbers game."
"Smile and dial."
"The more no's you get the closer you are to getting a yes."
Other sales leaders, like New York Times and Amazon Best Selling Author Frank Rumbauskas Jr teach that cold calling is a waste of time.
In fact, Frank has an excellent ebook on the subject. If you have never read it, I highly recommend that you check it out. In fact, I've arranged with Frank to get a preview copy of the book for you absolutely free! Just click here to download Cold Calling Is A Waste of Time.
Anyway, the question here is whether cold calling is a waste of time for network marketing distributors?
My answer to that question is...
"It depends on what you define as cold calling."
You see, based on my experience with sales both in the network marketing world and outside of the network marketing world, I have found that there are four levels of cold calling. Depending on which level of cold calling you are engaged in, that determines whether you are "wasting your time" or not.
Level #1 - Random Cold Calling
Random cold calling is just that. You pick up the yellow pages and start calling business owners to see if they might be open to taking a look at your business opportunity.
You stop random strangers on the street to see if they might be open to taking a look at your business opportunity. This is when you randomly contact someone (whether it's by phone or in person) and attempt to prospect them for your business.
Or here's a very common strategy that I know that there are a lot of network marketing training companies that teach this. You go online, look for people who are involved in network marketing, go to their web site, call them up and attempt to prospect them for your business.
Unlike Frank who hates this with a passion, I personally don't have a problem with random cold calling if it works for you.
Now personally, I rarely do this. I think that there are a TON of better approaches to prospecting for your business. I will also point out that if you ever tried to recruit me for your network marketing business, I would never work with you even if I liked your business.
At least with the calling me up and trying to pitch me. I personally think it's annoying. Maybe it's because I have so many people that try to do it to me. You might be able to recruit me if you pitched me on the street if you just had some really good timing.
So this isn't something that I do personally. However, once in a while, if I'm in the mood, I might randomly cold call a waiter or waitress in the restaurant that offered me good service or randomly cold call someone that I have conducted some type of business with.
I do have some distributors on my team that does this and some of them have recruited some of my best producers using this strategy, so I would NEVER knock it all together. It's just not a strategy I'm a big fan of personally for me.
So anyway, that's the first level of cold calling. Be sure to check out Frank's book - I got a preview copy of it for you for free right here on this web site and be sure to come back here tomorrow as I share with you the 2nd level of cold calling.

Are You Going To Social Media MLM Hell?
Are you going to social media MLM hell because you are committing some common social media marketing sins? If you haven't already, make sure you check out a recent post by the great Doug Firebaugh on The 10 Commandments of Social Media Marketing
You've probably heard of the 10 commandments that come from the bible. You know "thou shall not kill, thou shall not steal, etc."
Well Doug and his team did something that was very interesting. He researched all of the top social media and social networking web sites on the internet. He also researched all of the top blogs and web sites that train on social media and social networking strategies.
They then compiled all of the data and were able to come up with 10 commonalities that they found that lead to success in utilizing these tools effectively.
Now if you've ever heard Jerry Clark's "The Magic of Colors" presentation, I'm sure you can probably guess as to what color Doug Firebaugh is!!!
Anyway, there's certainly a lot of great discovers that Doug reveals in this post, so take some time to check it out if you are using web sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and others to build your brand and to promote your products, services and business opportunity.
By the way, I'll just point out that most network marketers are guilty of breaking the large majority of these 10 commandments, which is exactly why their business is going absolutely nowhere. Then they wonder why they aren't having success and why they are struggling to build a successful downline.
Better yet, they blame their company, product, upline, President Barack Obama, their momma, their daddy and the tree that is planted in front of their apartment building for why they aren't having success.
So make sure you're not one of these people and check out Doug's post today!

Randy Gage Reveals The 7 Sins of Twitter
Recently, I had an opportunity to check out Randy Gage's blog for the first time. Someone retweet a post he put on Twitter announcing a recent blog post he added on Twitter.
In case you're wondering who Randy Gage is, he's one of the top network marketing trainers in the world today. However, what I like about Randy is that unlike most of the trainers in the industry who built a downline and then quit to do training, he's still an active distributor today, in Agel
Now there's nothing wrong with doing a training business full time. Many of my favorite trainers in the industry do just that. I just have an even greater level of respect for you if you can run your training business and still build a downline because you actually get to apply what you are teaching yourself.
BTW, as an aside, if you are interested in following me on Twitter you can do so by visiting the following web site:
http://www.twitter.com/reverendro
Anyway, the title of the blog post is Tweet This! A Twitter Manifesto.
I highly recommend that you go and check this out if you do any type of marketing for your MLM business on Twitter.
I firmly believe that Twitter is a very powerful tool for building your network marketing business with if you learn how to use it the proper way. What is the proper way for using Twitter and any type of social networking web site? I spoke about this at length back in December and also attached a very informative video by Perry Belcher, social media expert about this exact same topic.
The blog post where I wrote about this is How Do I Make Money In Social Media Networking For My MLM Business?
By the way if you are doing any of these things that Randy talks about on Twitter, stop it right now! You're wasting your time and you are never going to be successful attracting anybody to your business doing these things!
Randy's also got some other great stuff on his blog so if you have some time, take a read at some of the topics he talks about. I'm sure you will get a lot of value out of it. In fact, the only reason why his blog isn't listed in my Top 10 MLM Network Marketing Direct Sales Blogs for June 2008 is because his blog isn't hosted on a separate domain.
Next time I do this list, which will probably be in the month of March, I'm going to have an "honorable mention" section because there are a lot of good blogs like Randy's that would probably make my list if there was a way to distinguish between their blog traffic and their web site traffic.
Got another good post for you tomorrow also on social networking, which seems to be the hot topic as of late, so make sure you tune back here tomorrow to check it out. Or, if you subscribe to my blog by entering your email address in the upper right hand corner of this blog, you'll get tomorrow's post sent right to your email.
